This Ithaca 4E Flues shotgun is in great, used condition.
Walnut stock shows a nice feathering in the wood and features hand checkering. There is a gold shield inset in the bottom of the stock and the length of pull measures 14 3/4" over a 1" black Pachmayr decelerator. It retains its original integrity with no splits or cracks.
The forend features hand checkering and a push button release. There is a split at the receiver on the left hand side that has been repaired and there's a pressmark in the checkering behind the latch. Other than that, it retains its original integrity with no additional splits or cracks.
Receiver features hand-engraving that has remained sharp after all these years. It has a duck scene on the left hand side and a pheasant scene on the right hand. Some of the original case colors still show near the trigger guard, but most have worn off. The patina now shows a nice patina.
Barrels measure 28" and are chambered for 2.75" shells. They have been reblacked, minor pitting remains, and it shows some spots of wear. There is a small dent on the right hand side of the barrels, but it's nothing too significant (check the pic). The barrels are also missing the center ivory bead.
Both barrels are marked 1/4" choke. When measured to the bore, chokes are closer to modified & modified.
The gold finish on the double triggers is worn.
Shotgun has ejectors and the lock-up is tight.
It weighs 6 5/8 lbs.
Serial number is 345756. All serials match and date this shotgun to 1921.
Mechanically, the gun is in excellent functioning condition and shoots great.
Does not come with the original box or paperwork.
